The FG2 has a unique top strap design that allows you to fit the gate after you’ve installed the bolt-through backing plate. Unlike most timber post hinges where the strap must be inserted over the gate and through the post, the FG2 allows you to simply sit the gate on the gudgeon and place the saddle over the two studs. Installation only requires a single hole in the centre of the post, not two at offset angles like most bolt-through timber post hinge sets. The longer nylon pin on the FG2 helps to ensure the gate won’t be at any risk of lifting off the gudgeon. This makes the FG2 more reliable than hinges with shorter gudgeons.
