Rapid K Tablets are a specially coated slow release potassium chloride tablet formulated as an aid in the treatment and prevention of electrolyte loss through dehydration caused by hot weather and heavy work programmes. The slow, sustained release of potassium prevents a rapid increase in blood potassium levels and prevents the rapid excretion of potassium through the kidneys.
Electrolytes are essential for racing greyhounds, particularly in the warmer months of the year. Due to the added stress placed on dogs by regular training, racing and travelling, it is often difficult for them to obtain sufficient electrolytes from their feed alone and supplementation is required.
Potassium is the electrolyte most likely to be lost by hard exercise, travelling etc. and potassium is an essential electrolyte for nerve and muscle function. Electrolyte imbalances or deficiencies can lead to chronic dehydration, muscle cramping, nervousness and poor racing performance.
Rapid K Tablets are perfect for greyhounds who are prone to losing higher amounts of essential muscle and nerve salt due to excitement, “hard walking” habits or panting during hot weather. Greyhounds prone to dehydration and muscle cramping will also benefit from extra potassium.
